What is it called?

The name becomes the distribution's name everywhere: login, installer, About page, boot menu. A logo is enough; icons, boot splash and wallpaper are derived from it.

A profile decides what is installed and how the machine behaves. Pick the closest one; you add applications on the next screen.

Which applications?

Groups switch whole sets on or off; below them, pick single applications. Anything in the base's archive can be added by name.

Languages and regulations

Every country you select is built into the image, for the live desktop and for the installed system: its languages, keyboard, time zone, paper size, compliance baseline and national eID support. The default country is the one the live desktop starts in and the first one the installer proposes; whoever installs can pick any of the others on the installer's first screen.

Advanced settings

Every value here comes from the profile you chose. Change only what your organisation requires; the count shows how many you changed. Nothing here is needed for a first build.

Nothing to install to unpack: zip opens on Windows and macOS, tar.gz on Linux. The launcher installs the container runtime if needed. First build about 40 minutes and 40 GB; the next ones reuse what was built. The full guide is under “How it works”.
